In a fully functional organism, an emotion has a very short life span. It is like a momentary ripple or wave on the surface of your Being. However, an emotion can survive inside you for days or weeks, or join with other emotions of a similar frequency that have merged and become the pain-body, a parasite that can live inside you for years, feed on your energy, lead to physical illness, and make your life miserable.
With Acupuncture treatment the mind, body, spirit and emotions have been viewed as a seamless whole – disharmony in one affects the other – there is no separation. Because of this connection, treating areas of the body affected by trauma, acupuncture can release and heal the emotional pain held in the body.
One of the major benefits of Acupuncture is it helps shift the autonomic nervous system, regulating the body’s unconscious actions, out of sympathetic nervous system (“fight, flight, or freeze” response) into parasympathetic nervous system (“rest and digest” mode). Acupuncture provides amazing relief from the assault of stress hormones, allowing the body to rest and begin the process of healing.

Fancy sounding workshops in my experience can turn out to be such a let down but my curiosity and tired creaking body won over my scepticism and I decided to give it a shot, I wasn't disappointed. Soft yoga stretches with the focus on breathing pulls you into a calm meditative state. Then comes the poking even while you are relaxing in shavasana- so gentle you can barely feel it. Suddenly you are in the Zen zone. One of the participants fell fast asleep and had to be woken up I wasn't so lucky but my aches and pains seem to have faded I felt calmer and fresher. Anisha knows her stuff and is professional, committed and articulate it may not be everyone's cup of tea but it was mine. Oh yes when you open your eyes, there is a cup of Chinese green tea waiting for you. Loved it.
